The topic of disability misconceptions comes up regularly, so it’s always an interesting one to talk about. So I nominate anyone who wants to join in with it, as I know many great disabled writers and Youtubers in amongst the many blogs I follow. As if nominating me for the Liebster Award wasn’t generous enough, Holly from Life Of A Blind Girl has also nominated me for the Blogger Recognition Award twice this year, in January and October, which is very kind indeed, thank you Holly! Do go and check out Holly’s blog, as she publishes lots of great posts about visual impairment, disability awareness and her hobbies and interests.
The Blogger Recognition Award simply requires you to write a bit about your blog and give advice to new bloggers, and then nominate other bloggers to do the same, to share the love and give them some exposure and recognition. So that’s what I’m going to do here. Thanks again to Holly for nominating me!
Today’s post is the Getting To Know Me Tag, which is basically 20 questions about me. This is in response to the tag video by How Casey Sees It, a great visually impaired Youtuber who I recommend you check out if you’re not aware of her already. And I’ve made a video to go with this post as well.
So I hope you enjoy finding out a few things about me. And I tag everyone reading this who wants to do the tag themselves too.
Last year I was nominated for the Liebster Award, which was very surprising and flattering considering I was a relatively new blogger at the time. It’s a fun way of showing your fellow blogging friends that you appreciate and enjoy their work, by giving them valuable exposure and promotion.
If you’re nominated, the rules are simply to thank the blogger who nominated you and answer the 11 questions they’ve set you, and then set a list of 11 new questions and nominate 11 other bloggers to respond to them.
And this year I’ve been nominated for the second time, with huge thanks to Holly at Life Of A Blind Girl! Holly recently graduated from university, which is fantastic, so congratulations to her! I remember how wonderful that feeling is, seems a long time now since my own graduation. Anyway, Holly writes lots of wonderful posts about her experiences being visually impaired, as well as advocating and educating around sight loss and disability, and posting about other things she enjoys too. So do go and check her out, there’s a lot of great stuff to read there.
I’ve been meaning to write my response post for a while, and I’m sorry it’s taken so long. But here are my answers to Holly’s questions, and I hope you enjoy. Thanks again Holly! 🙂
A few of my recent posts about my visual impairment have become very popular, which has been wonderful of course. In large part this is because the RNIB have very kindly shared them, which has enabled them to reach a huge audience.
As a result of those posts, various people have got in touch with questions relating to my conditions. I’ve answered them all either privately or in the comments area they were posted in. But I thought I’d summarise the questions and my responses here as well, in case others find it useful.
So thank you to Sam, Charlotte and Nadine for the questions in this post, I’m happy to help as best I can. And if any of you reading this want to ask me anything about my visual impairment, or anything else for that matter, then feel free to comment here or on my Twitter or Facebook feeds. I’m happy to do more Q&A posts like this if people wish.

For this post and video, I’m doing the small Youtuber tag, which I decided to do after seeing Annie Elainey’s video. I don’t know if she originally created the tag but that’s where I found it. Her Youtube channel is well worth checking out as well, she’s a brilliant disability campaigner and blogger.

I hadn’t heard of the Liebster Award before I started blogging, but it seems to be a fun way of promoting other bloggers. The basic idea is that you answer the questions you’ve been asked, then nominate a few other bloggers and give them some questions to answer. And I’ve been very kindly nominated by The Invisible Vision Project – thank you so much! 🙂 They’ve also nominated Nataemily and Blind Moving On, whose blogs I also recommend checking out.

There’s a new Visually Impaired Persons Tag doing the rounds at the moment, initiated by My Blurred World and Life of a Blind Girl, and Fashioneyesta has also responded to it at the time of writing. They’re all superb posts by superb bloggers, so they’re worth checking out. Although I’ve not been tagged myself, I’m going to jump on the bandwagon and join in anyway, as I do think they’re great questions. So hopefully nobody will mind. 🙂
While looking around Youtube channels and blogs by other visually impaired people, I’ve seen the VIP (Visually Impaired Person) Tag come up numerous times. And thanks to the wonderful Emily Davison from Fashioneyesta, I was finally tagged to do it.
It was originally created by Chatty Chelby, and it’s an interesting way of telling the community about yourself. So I’ve put my answers together in this post, and have also produced a video version too. I hope you enjoy my responses!
