Journal – April 2013

Welcome to my next set of journal entries. This month my mother and I made another trip up to London for Easter, although we didn’t end up doing a great deal, and our plans for moving have taken another step forward. Plus there are some more jokes that were sent to me, and there have been a couple of much less cheerful news stories dominating the headlines. So I hope you find this interesting as always.

Journal – Christmas 2012 (London Holiday)

Mum and I have just had our third trip up to London in quick succession. But whereas the previous 2 brief visits last year had been for my Nan’s funeral, and then a weekend to sort out a few bits and pieces, this latest trip was the chance for us to have a proper Christmas break, which we needed. It included a trip to the theatre to see The Lion King with a couple of my friends, along with various other outings. I’ve also included a few photos and a video that I captured on my mobile phone during the trip. So I hope you enjoy reading about it all!

Journal – December 2012 (London Weekend)

Following my Nan’s death, my mother and I have had another weekend trip to London this month. So that’s the main topic here, along with other little bits and pieces including initial thoughts about homeworking, a news story about a prank call made by a pair of Australian DJs, and a bit of humour sent to me by a friend. Journal – November 2012 (Nan’s Death)

Welcome to another set of journal entries. There wasn’t anything to mention in October, but this month we had another family loss with the death of my Nan, resulting in another trip to London, for her funeral and to sort out some bits and pieces. And I do still mention other little things as usual, including DVDs and music I was buying. So I hope you enjoy!

Journal – July-September 2012

Following on from my post about meeting Jimmy Carr, here’s the rest of my journal from July, along with entries for August and September. There’s one post per month here, but there’s lots to mention in each case, including a little trip to Bristol to meet a software supplier (with a few photos of my hotel room), the excitement of the London Olympics & Paralympics, and the sad loss of a good friend. Journal – February 2011

Things have settled down considerably this month, following Dad’s death at the start of the year. There have still been a few things for Mum and I to sort out of course, but nowhere near as much as in January, and we were able to get away for a break in London with our relatives. Plus I’ve been busy at work, and I’ve mentioned a few other things that got my attention this month too. So I hope you enjoy reading this latest trilogy of entries.

Journal – January 2011 (Dad’s Death)

This month marks a huge change and a big turning point in my life with my father passing away. My mother and I have naturally had a lot to sort out as a result, but we do also have plans for the future, given our desire to move to London and make a fresh start at some stage.

So I’ve had plenty to write about during this extremely busy month. And even after editing out a lot of private information, there’s still a considerable amount I’ve shared here. It’ll certainly give you a fair sense of how much needs to be done when a loved one passes away. But I also met up with a friend at one point during the month, which was nice too.

Journal – October-November 2007

Welcome to another set of journal entries. October was fairly quiet, but I did meet a friend in Exeter, which was nice. Then I’ve had a couple of nice trips away during November, visiting my Nan in London for her 100th birthday, and then a friend at Bournemouth University for his much younger birthday!

I took lots of photos on my new Nokia 6300 phone while I was in London, a selection of which you’ll see below, along with an unusual photo of me from Bournemouth too. So I hope you like them, and that you enjoy this latest selection of entries overall!

Welcome to the next set of entries from my personal journal. Things have been much calmer this month, as I now have job security with my new permanent position at the Council. It means I’m able to get much more support as a visually impaired employee. And there are various other bits and pieces to mention about things I’ve been buying, things that have caught my eye in the news, the loss of a comedy legend, a few technical mishaps, and a day trip to London with a couple of colleagues for a trade show. So I hope you enjoy!

Journal – July 2005

Welcome to another set of my journal entries. It’s fair to say this has been a month of mixed fortunes for the UK, particularly in London, and especially in the first week when so much happened in quick succession. Despite being so far away in Devon, the events were so significant and dominated the news so heavily that it was natural to write a lot about them.

On the one hand London hosted one of the massive worldwide Live 8 concerts, that gave us a lot of entertainment while sending an important message. Plus the city won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics, which was fantastic news. But all of that was quickly overshadowed by the bomb attacks on London’s transport network. And if reading about those is likely to upset you, then please feel free to skip some or all of this post as you feel necessary.

There are little updates about me in amongst all of that as well though, relating to my career and entertainment, and there are other bits of news too. So even though some of this isn’t cheerful, I hope you find it interesting nonetheless.
