Journal – November 2012 (Nan’s Death)

Welcome to another set of journal entries. There wasn’t anything to mention in October, but this month we had another family loss with the death of my Nan, resulting in another trip to London, for her funeral and to sort out some bits and pieces. And I do still mention other little things as usual, including DVDs and music I was buying. So I hope you enjoy!

Journal – July-September 2012

Following on from my post about meeting Jimmy Carr, here’s the rest of my journal from July, along with entries for August and September. There’s one post per month here, but there’s lots to mention in each case, including a little trip to Bristol to meet a software supplier (with a few photos of my hotel room), the excitement of the London Olympics & Paralympics, and the sad loss of a good friend. So I hope you enjoy looking through all of this as usual.

Journal – July 2012 – Jimmy Carr

This is another special entry, as I’ve had the surprise opportunity to not only watch, but also meet, one of my favourite stand-up comedians – the consistently hilarious joke machine that is Jimmy Carr, who is on his Gagging Order tour. And it’s all the more interesting to see him right now, as he’s recently been headline news for his tax avoidance.

I bought a signed tour programme and poster as well, so I’ve shared some images throughout this post (you can click to enlarge them). Naturally some of the jokes in his show and tour programme reflect the more edgy side of his humour, so there may be material here that some people find isn’t to their personal taste. We can’t all like and laugh about the same things. But I enjoyed myself, it was a fantastic night. Jimmy is a genuinely nice guy, his show was very funny, and I hope you enjoy reading about my experience!

Journal – February-June 2012

Welcome back to my journal. I didn’t write many entries during the first half of 2012, which is why I’ve gathered a bunch together here. But each update contains several bits and pieces as usual, including another social weekend in Exeter, continued preparations for our London move, updates on my Nan’s health after hitting her head last year, a few more jokes and DVDs, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and several stories in the world of sport that have been memorable for the wrong reasons. Welcome to another batch of journal entries. I didn’t write anything in September, as there wasn’t much going on, but this month I had a lovely long weekend in Bournemouth with some friends. So that’s the main topic here, along with updates from home, things I’ve enjoyed watching, and a few more jokes I’ve been sent. I hope you enjoy!

Another birthday’s come around, how quickly the time goes. I’ve only written one journal entry this month, to mark the occasion and give a general update on what I’ve been up to, but it still contains quite a few things. And I’ve also continued to receive some jokes from friends in my emails, so I’ve added them here to flesh things out and give you some amusement. I hope you enjoy!

Welcome to another set of journal entries. This month I spent a lot of time sorting out all the stuff in the loft, bought some more DVDs and had some work experience students at work, while the big news stories have included the final publication of the scandalous News Of The World, the terror attacks in Norway, and the death of Amy Winehouse. I’ve also received some more jokes (not always clean!) from a couple of friends during the month, so I’ve included those for variety as well. I hope you enjoy!

Time for my next set of journal entries, looking back at another busy period, with plenty of socialising and a barn dance, dealing with the last financial affairs from Dad’s estate, the UK local elections, the death of Osama Bin Laden and various other things. So I hope you enjoy!

Journal – April 2011

Here we go with another set of journal entries. Most of it’s about work this month, as we’ve been busy preparing for the elections, we’ve celebrated a colleague’s retirement (after which I had a bit of an accident on my way home), and some of us went to a big conference and awards dinner (where we got quite merry with all the free drinks!). Beyond all that, Mum and I have continued to sort out our financial affairs since Dad’s passing, we saw some of the coverage of the Royal Wedding, and I’ve mentioned a few other little bits and pieces too. So there’s quite a variety here, I hope you enjoy!
