Journal Archive – August 2005

After the madness of July, this month was much calmer and happier, though still busy with plenty to talk about. My main focus was preparing for my first ever job interview, which took place at the end of the month. And I celebrated another birthday by getting a combination VHS, DVD & Hard Drive recorder that came in very handy, along with various DVDs and music purchases as well. So I hope you enjoy this latest look back at my past!

Note: Each time I publish a new post from my archive, the previous post is backdated to the year it was originally written, so my blog remains tidy and chronological. You can see all the archive posts together by visiting the Journal Archive category.

Journal – July 2005

February 2021 Introduction:

Welcome to another set of my old journal entries. It’s fair to say this was a month of mixed fortunes for the UK, particularly in London, and especially in the first week when so much happened in quick succession. I wasn’t living in London at the time, I was far away in Devon, but the events were so significant and dominated the news so heavily that I naturally wrote a lot about them.

On the one hand London hosted one of the massive worldwide Live 8 concerts, that gave us a lot of entertainment while sending an important message. Plus the city won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics, which was fantastic news. But all of that was quickly overshadowed by the bomb attacks on London’s transport network. And if reading about those is likely to upset you, then please feel free to skip some or all of this post as you feel necessary.

There are little updates about me in amongst all of that as well though, relating to my career and entertainment, and there are other bits of news I mention too. So even though some of this isn’t cheerful, I hope you find it an interesting look back nonetheless.

Journal – June 2005

February 2021 Introduction:

This is a very busy month to look back at. At the end of May I’d been invited to spend a week with a couple of friends of mine in Exeter, while I was taking a bit of well-earned holiday from work. So that’s where we start off here, and there’s lots to mention about the various ways we enjoyed ourselves. I’ve anonymised my friend’s names and edited out other little details to respect their privacy of course. Then there’s the usual mix of job updates, entertainment and other bits and bobs as well. So I hope you enjoy looking through it all!

Journal – April 2005

February 2021 Introduction:

Here’s another instalment of edited entries from my old journal. This month there are further developments on my job, more on the TV shows, music and DVDs that I’ve been enjoying, a bit of socialising, a top 50 list and a top 100 list. So I hope you enjoy! Continue reading “Journal – April 2005”

Journal – March 2005

January 2021 Introduction:

Here’s another set of edited entries from my personal journal. In this month there were updates on my temporary contract at work, and various bits of entertainment news, including a top 100 poll about cartoons, an extensive review of the Red Nose Day telethon, and my initial reaction to the highly anticipated relaunch of a certain sci-fi show. So I hope you enjoy as always!

Journal – January-February 2005

January 2021 Introduction:

Welcome to another set of edited highlights from my old journals. I’m combining 2 months together here, as I didn’t write a huge amount for each.

At this time I was in the early stages of a new temporary job with my local council, working in their Printing department. There wasn’t always a lot to say about it, and there are some details I’ve left out for confidentiality, but you’ll still get a good sense of how I was getting on. And as always there’s plenty of entertainment I was enjoying, plus there’s another top 100 list from the TV, about music videos this time. So I hope you enjoy this little look back as always! Journal – November-December 2004

December 2020 Introduction:

Here’s another instalment of edited entries from my old journal, bringing us to the end of 2004. At this point I was doing a work experience placement at my local council, having graduated from university earlier in the year. And I was continuing to enjoy my music and DVD purchases as usual.

Unfortunately, my entries for December were accidentally deleted, and it’s the only posts I’ve ever lost. I think I might have been combining journal files together at the start of 2005 and missed it off by mistake, but I can’t remember for sure. So in its place I just wrote my usual summary of the year, and briefly mentioned the key points for December at the end of it, along with another top 100 list from the month.

That anomaly aside, however, I hope you find these posts interesting!

Journal – October 2004

December 2020 Introduction:

Welcome to another set of extracts from my personal journal of days gone by. This month I started work experience for the first time since leaving university, with support from my Work Prep adviser Louise. There are naturally a lot of specific details about my work that I’ve had to edit out here, either for confidentiality or because they’ll make no sense out of context, but there’s still quite a bit here that will give you a good sense of how I got on. Plus I continued buying music and DVDs during the month of course. So I hope you enjoy!

Journal – September 2004

December 2020 Introduction:

Welcome to another instalment of posts from my old journals. From this month onwards my journal was a private document on my PC, as I’d left the Bolt social media site. I didn’t write about myself online again until I started this blog in 2016.

However, I continued to write about the same topics, in the style that I’d become accustomed to. The only difference was the inclusion of more private information about me, my family, friends, work, etc, so I’ll have to edit out some of those things as we go along. But there will still be plenty for you to enjoy here.

This month was basically spent looking for work, getting hooked on a new PlayStation 2 game, and buying more DVDs and CDs. So it’s nowhere near as eventful as the previous month, but I hope you enjoy!
