Journal – December 2005

April 2021 Introduction:

Time to finish off another year from my old journal, and there’s a lot packed into this latest collection of entries, including updates about my Access To Work support, meeting up with friends, our first look at digital TV, more DVD and music purchases, and news stories that caught my eye. Plus of course there’s plenty of talk about Christmas. And I conclude with my most extensive end-of-year recap so far, including reminders of news stories that weren’t mentioned in my journal entries during the year but were still important or interesting. So I hope you enjoy it all!

March 2021 Introduction:

Here’s another month of entries from my old journal. This time I had a lot of fun visiting my best mate to celebrate his 21st birthday, so that was the main thing to report on. I was also assessed for support I might be able to get for work because of my visual impairment, there were lots of DVDs coming out in the run up to Christmas that I was keen to get, and we had Children In Need and other delights on TV. So there’s a variety of things here as usual, and I hope you enjoy!

Journal – October 2005

March 2021 Introduction:

Welcome to the next set of old entries from my personal journal. Things were much calmer this month, as I now had job security with my new permanent position at the Council. It meant I was able to get much more support as a visually impaired employee, so there were discussions going on about that. And there were various other bits and pieces to mention about things I was buying, things that caught my eye in the news, the loss of a comedy legend, a few technical mishaps, and a day trip to London with a couple of colleagues for a trade show. So I hope you enjoy!

Journal – September 2005

March 2021 Introduction:

We’ve reached another significant month in my life with these old journal entries, as I learn the outcome of my first ever job interview. It was also the month that Hurricane Katrina embarked on its path of destruction in America, and so given its inevitable dominance in the news it would have been remiss not to mention it. And amongst the various bits of entertainment I was buying, watching and listening to, ITV were celebrating their 50th anniversary, including a rundown of their top 50 shows. So I hope you enjoy this latest mixture!

Journal – August 2005

March 2021 Introduction:

After the madness of July, this month was much calmer and happier, though still busy with plenty to talk about. My main focus was preparing for my first ever job interview, which took place at the end of the month. And I celebrated another birthday by getting a combination VHS, DVD & Hard Drive recorder that came in very handy, along with various DVDs and music purchases as well. So I hope you enjoy this latest look back at my past!

February 2021 Introduction:

Welcome to another set of my old journal entries. It’s fair to say this was a month of mixed fortunes for the UK, particularly in London, and especially in the first week when so much happened in quick succession. I wasn’t living in London at the time, I was far away in Devon, but the events were so significant and dominated the news so heavily that I naturally wrote a lot about them.

On the one hand London hosted one of the massive worldwide Live 8 concerts, that gave us a lot of entertainment while sending an important message. Plus the city won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics, which was fantastic news.ย But all of that was quickly overshadowed by the bomb attacks on London’s transport network. And if reading about those is likely to upset you, then please feel free to skip some or all of this post as you feel necessary.

There are little updates about me in amongst all of that as well though, relating to my career and entertainment, and there are other bits of news I mention too. So even though some of this isn’t cheerful, I hope you find it an interesting look back nonetheless.

Journal – June 2005

February 2021 Introduction:

This is a very busy month to look back at.ย At the end of May I’d been invited to spend a week with a couple of friends of mine in Exeter, while I was taking a bit of well-earned holiday from work. So that’s where we start off here, and there’s lots to mention about the various ways we enjoyed ourselves. I’ve anonymised my friend’s names and edited out other little details to respect their privacy of course. Then there’s the usual mix of job updates, entertainment and other bits and bobs as well. So I hope you enjoy looking through it all!

January 2021 Introduction:

Here’s another set of edited entries from my personal journal. In this month there were updates on my temporary contract at work, and various bits of entertainment news, including a top 100 poll about cartoons, an extensive review of the Red Nose Day telethon, and my initial reaction to the highly anticipated relaunch of a certain sci-fi show. So I hope you enjoy as always!
